Argentina has suspended talks on buying Russian MiG-29 until after the presidential elections in the country. This was announced by Deputy Director of Russia’s Federal service for military-technical cooperation Anatoly Punchy, reports RIA Novosti.
“They’ve stalled and can’t move on, because I understand that the current arrangement may not be implemented further,” said Punchy, calling such a move is logical.
It is noted that after the presidential elections in Argentina, the negotiations can resume, and in the matter of buying fighters, you may receive the specifics.
Argentina has directed to Russia inquiry about possible purchase of MiG-29 fighters in 2017. In response, Russia gave a quotation.
The MiG-29 multi-role fighter of the fourth generation, was first commissioned in the USSR in 1983 and is still in service, remaining reasonably effective fighting machine. According to open sources, the Ukrainian air force has 37 of these fighters.
