In Russia there is an elite unit of Main intelligence Directorate (GRU), which “is conducting a coordinated campaign to destabilize Europe.” It is reported by The New York Times, citing sources in Western intelligence services.
Interlocutors of the edition claim that the GRU unit number 29155 had to do with the change of the ruling circles in Moldova, the poisoning of Bulgarian businessman of Hebrew, the coup attempt in Montenegro and the poisoning of the family Skrobala in British Salisbury.
The publication writes that the intelligence Department had been in effect for at least ten years, but found it was quite recently. Representatives of special services of the four Western countries claim that it is impossible to figure out where and when the Russian division will once again begin to act.
According to sources, the Department is located in the headquarters of the 161-th training center for special purposes in the East of Moscow. Division staff participated in the fighting in Afghanistan, Chechnya and Ukraine. Interlocutors of the edition claim that the operations Department possess such a degree of secrecy that often do not know about them even other GRU officers.
Western intelligence agencies found out that the division commanded by major-General Andrey Averyanov. In the order of publication was a photograph from the wedding of the daughter Averyanova, taken in 2017. On it the General-the major is standing beside the GRU officer Anatoly Caihou — one of the suspects in the poisoning of Yulia and Sergei Skripal in Britain.
The publication requested a comment from the press Secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, however, he has forwarded the request to the Ministry of defence. The office for questions not answered.
