Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev and former mayor of Moscow Yuri Luzhkov has headed a rating of the presence of politicians-the”veterans” on the agenda of 2019, who published the St. Petersburg policy Foundation.
From the beginning, the journalists mentioned Gorbachev 38 830 times, Luzhkov — 11 207 times. The third place by the references in the media took the former President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev.
“A significant portion of references-the”veterans” in the media related to the events of the past, reflection on which is often sporadic and superficial in nature,” the study says.
The authors emphasize that awareness of politicians decreases with the change of generations of journalists. Most of the “veterans” remember to celebrate the anniversary. It is also noted that some try to avoid the “media neglect” through expert work in business structures.
Former General Secretary of the CPSU, the first and only President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev in 1990 was awarded the Nobel peace prize.
Yury Luzhkov was mayor of Moscow from 1992 to 2010. He was dismissed in connection with loss of trust.
