Obesity is found in every second Russian citizen older than 30 years. Since 2012, the number of overweight people in the country increased 2.3 times, according to the website of Rospotrebnadzor.
The Ministry said that these figures primarily relate to the purchasing power of the population, and malnutrition. According to the Institute of food and biotechnology, it is 30-50 percent affects the development of not only obesity, but also diabetes, osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, certain forms of cancer.
The CPS indicated that, with small excess weight, life expectancy by an average of three to five years, in marked obesity to 15 years. About two out of three deaths occur due to diseases associated with obesity and impaired lipid metabolism.
To combat obesity, the Department recommended to reduce the consumption of refined foods and junk food and to increase physical activity and to educate children and adults and to conduct with them explanatory work.
In August, the Ministry of health pointed out that in 2018, Russia had more than two million registered doctors cases of obesity. The thick regions were Altai Krai, Kurgan and Ulyanovsk region.
