The Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed Ali received the Nobel peace prize to 2019. This is stated on the website awards.
Ali was awarded the “for peace and international cooperation, in particular, for the bold initiative to resolve the border conflict with Eritrea”. For his achievement he will receive 9 million Swedish kronor (about 900 thousand dollars). The award will be awarded in Oslo on 10 December.
Ali holds a post of the Prime Minister of Ethiopia from April 2, 2018.
Armed conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea over control of disputed border territories lasted from 1998 to 2000. Later international arbitration are equally divided the territory between the two countries. The state finally rebuilt the relations until July 2018 with the signing of the Declaration of peace and friendship. A peace Treaty was signed by Ali and the President of Eritrea, Isaias Afewerki.
In 2018, the Nobel peace prize for combating sexual violence received the gynecologist from the Democratic Republic of the Congo Denis Mukwege and human rights activist from Iraq Nadia Murad.
