The Ministry has prepared a draft law on recycling food waste and secondary material resources, which will not be sent to landfill food with expired shelf life, write “Izvestia”.
Document sent for approval to the government. As explained by the Deputy head of the Ministry Viktor Evtukhov, the main objective of the bill is to reduce waste. Because it is often the expiry date does not mean that the products cannot be used.
According to the Association of retail companies (ACORT), now in Russia in a landfill a year send about 700 thousand tons of food products from trade networks. Use them for other production is prohibited by law.
The Association explained that if the initiative of the Ministry of industry and trade will pass and be adopted, it will affect those categories of products that preserve the safety and nutritional value. This, for example, salt, some types of canned products and dried fruits, as well as properly stored bread. They can be used, for example, in the manufacture of animal feed.
As pointed out by the Agency in the course of further development initiatives are expected to define what a “secondary resources”. You will need to create a list of them and the criteria that allow you to use products in recyclable.
Earlier it was reported that the HSE has proposed not to levy taxes on profits and VAT on goods with expiring shelf life, if the trade network gave them to charity. The sellers themselves are willing to give such food in hospitals, clinics and hospices.
