Well-known Soviet and Russian tennis player Alexander Volkov died at the age of 52 years. This was announced by the Olympic tennis champion Yevgeny Kafelnikov in his Twitter account.
“This is unbelievable! I will always remember your cheerful smile,” wrote Kafelnikov.
The tennis player died on Saturday, 19 October in Kaliningrad. The cause of death of a sportsman is not specified.
Alexander Volkov — the deserved master of sports and honored coach of Russia. In international tournaments the player took part in 1986. During his career, managed to win three titles on the tournaments of Association of tennis professionals (ATP) in singles. The athlete also was a two-time finalist of the Davis Cup national team of Russia (1994 and 1995). From the active sports of the wolves took off in 1997. Since 2002 worked as a coach of the national team of Russia on tennis.
