When the relations of Russia and Belarus experienced difficult times, the Union of the two countries has saved regional cooperation. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus is inseparable from the Slavic peoples. It just so happened recently that Belarus was the most Slavic country, making a significant contribution to the rapprochement of our peoples. We consider development of cooperation with all Russian regions as one of the key areas,” — said Lukashenko at the meeting with Governor of Sverdlovsk region Yevgeny Kuyvashev.
He also added that cooperation between Belarus and Sverdlovsk region exists in the humanitarian sphere. The President recalled the Belarusian musician Vladimir Mulyavin who was born in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg). According to Lukashenko, the monument to the leader of “Pesnyary” in Minsk was possible only thanks to the help of the government of Sverdlovsk region.
Earlier, Lukashenko said that Russia creates different constraints on the way of integration of the Eurasian economic Union (EEU). He also noted that Minsk have a problem military-technical cooperation with Moscow, despite the General regional grouping of troops of the two countries.
