Three-time world champion Sergei Fedorov has approved the acquisition of a Russian hockey player Evgeni Malkin of U.S. citizenship. His words leads to “Sport-Express”.
Fedorov said that he sees no problems in a situation. “It seems that we live in the XVIII century. If no one has previously not had dual citizenship! It is common practice, no one forgets their roots. I would not condemn such a decision,” he said.
October 28, Malkin admitted that he has long had an American passport. Later, 33-year-old forward said that the United States citizenship allows him and his family to solve a number of domestic and social problems. The Malkin family spends most of the year in the United States.
Malkin was a pupil of Magnitogorsk “metallurg”, playing in the National hockey League (NHL) since 2006. In the “Pittsburgh penguins” he has three times won the Stanley Cup (2009, 2016, 2017). During the lockout of 2012, the forward has returned to “Magnitogorsk”.
