The number of Russian tourists who visited Turkey from January to September 2019, broke record levels. It is reported by the Association of tour operators of Russia (ATOR) with reference to the Ministry of tourism and culture of Turkey.
For nine months the tourist flow from Russia to Turkey amounted to 5.9 million people, or 15 percent higher than in the same period of 2018.
Thus, in the first three quarters, Russia accounted for 16.2 percent of the total inbound tourist flow to Turkey. In addition, among the leaders in inbound flow to the country were tourists from Germany (four million people, the proportion of entry — 11 percent), the UK (2.2 million, the share of entry — 6 percent), Bulgaria (almost two million, 5.5 per cent in the entrance) and Iran (1.64 million, 4.5 per cent in the entrance).
In October it was reported that several Turkish hotels stopped selling due to high demand of the Russians on holiday in Antalya in October. According to tourist agencies, the flow of Russian tourists to Antalya this month rose to 20 percent compared to the same period in 2018. Interest in the resort is tied to the fact that many Russian schoolchildren this month autumn holidays.
