The President of the United States Donald trump congratulated Germany with the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall, criticizing socialism. This was reported on the White house website.
“On this day in 1989 the brave men and women of East and West Germany join forces to bring down the wall, stands as a symbol of repression and the bankrupt socialism for more than a quarter of a century” — said the American leader.
Trump also criticized the government of East Germany and the socialist bloc, which, according to him, the oppressed peoples of their countries. According to him, around the world still “use repressive tactics of totalitarianism in the Soviet Union style”.
The us President also quoted lines “Faust” by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe: “Only that is worthy lives and freedom who every day comes for them to fight.”
The Berlin wall was erected August 13, 1961 and stood for nearly 30 years, separating East and West Berlin. Its length was 155 kilometers, of which more than 40 kilometers were in the city. For January-November 1990, all of the border fortifications were demolished. A fragment of a wall with a length of 1.3 km was retained as a symbol of the cold war.
