Ukrainian complained about forcible recruitment by the Russian intelligence services

Counterintelligence of security Service of Ukraine (SBU) intercepted in Chernihiv region attempted recruitment of a Ukrainian citizen by the Russian security services. On Saturday, 9 November, reports “Interfax-Ukraine” with reference to the press service of the SBU.

According to authorities, a resident of one of the border settlements of the region during a visit to relatives living in Russia, has come to the attention of the FSB. The secret service, using threats and blackmail, allegedly attracted him to the tacit cooperation. They forced the man to sign a written commitment and assigned the pseudonym, said the SBU.

He set the task to collect information on the protection regime and personnel of military facilities in the region. It is noted that to pass the information he had during his next visit to Russia.

After returning home, the Ukrainians appealed to the security service and gave testimony about the circumstances of the recruitment. In this regard, the court released him from criminal liability under part 2 of article 111 (“high treason”) criminal code of Ukraine.

31 October 2018 it was reported that employees of military counterintelligence of the security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained three wives of servicemen who were allegedly recruited by the FSB of Russia. From women tried to obtain information about military ranks, positions, location and official duties of their husbands, as well as information about the military unit where they serve.
