The leader of the party “Batkivshchyna” Yulia Tymoshenko believes that the adoption of the bill of sale of agricultural land could become the biggest tragedy in the history of Ukraine. About it reports TASS.
“I think this session week may go down in history of Ukraine as one of the most tragic weeks of work of the Verkhovna Rada. It can lead to such consequences that we have no way back”, — said Tymoshenko.
She believes that agricultural lands are “the last treasure of Ukraine”. The leader of “Batkivshchyna” fears that most of the land will be purchased by foreigners, and to buy they are large areas. “This suggests that you have already prepared the creation of a large oligarchic model of appropriation of agricultural land, where a few corporations can own the Ukraine”, — she said.
The lifting of the moratorium on land sales, the incumbent since 2001, and the opening of the land market is one of the key points in the requirements of the International monetary Fund for further lending to Ukraine. In early September, President Vladimir Zelensky instructed the government to prepare a draft law by 1 October, and Parliament — to adopt it until December 1. The Ministry of economic development, trade and agriculture of Ukraine plans to open the land market October 1, 2020.
As polls show, against the reform serves nearly half of the population, and support the sale of land, less than a third of Ukrainians. Zelensky did not intend to abandon this idea, and the citizens of Ukraine urged not to fear that “the land in cars will take out the Arabs, the Chinese or aliens”.
