Moscow reacted to the pardon of Russian spies in Lithuania

Russia will take ‘mirror’ measures in response to the clemency of the Russians in Lithuania, said the Director of the foreign intelligence Service (SVR) Sergei Naryshkin. It is quoted by RT on Friday, November 15.

Earlier on Friday, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausea pardoned Russians Filipchenko Nikolay and Sergey Moiseenko, convicted in 2017 for espionage in favor of Russia. It is noted that the decision was taken based on the recommendations of the pardon Commission.

In October it was reported reached between the countries agreements on the exchange of Moiseenko and Filipchenko Lithuanian citizens of Eugene Matitis and Aristides of Tamosaitis. They were convicted in Russia on 12 and 13 years imprisonment respectively. Militiamen spent their detention in 2015, shortly after the arrest Filipchenko. The verdict of the Russians said he several years committed against the Lithuanian actions.
