Friends associate Professor of St. Petersburg state University, Oleg Sokolov, accused in the murder of PhD student Anastasia Yeshchenko, told about his problems with alcohol. On Sunday, November 17, writes “Moskovsky Komsomolets”.
Familiar with historian for more than 30 years, Mr. Matlin said that Sokolov poorly behaved under the influence of alcohol. “Sokolov is a drunk. At all events, where we encountered, he was outrageously drunk and behaved aggressively. But to belittle his merits as a historian — stupid,” he said.
According to colleagues of the Professor, he was turned into an occasion for drinking any significant date. “Once in the marble Palace of the celebrated historical event that resulted in the celebration of the birth of Sokolov. Then he got drunk, yelled, jumped on the tables. Restraint he didn’t know. And he had a bit of alcohol to get drunk in the trash,” said Matlin.
Also, Matlin said that in 1999 the falcons were accused of embezzlement of funds of the Historical Museum. First, he was one of the suspects, and then he was transferred to the status of a witness, but a historian was under house arrest.
Oleg Sokolov was detained November 9 in St. Petersburg, when he tried to drown in the river Washing a severed female hands. Historian in a poor condition and suffering from hypothermia was taken to the hospital. He later repented and admitted that he was in a relationship with her former student, Anastasia Eschenko and killed her after a quarrel because of jealousy. Recovering, he decided to dismember the body and get rid of it. On 11 November the Sokolova court arrested for two months.
