The Federation Council member Sergei Tsekov commented on the transfer of Kiev Ukrainian military ships, which were detained by Russian border in the Kerch Strait. On Sunday, November 17, according to RIA Novosti.
“It’s a goodwill gesture. By this gesture we show that it is ready to normalize relations with Ukraine, to dialogue with Ukraine. This is a positive trend”, — said the Senator.
5 Nov Tsekov noted that Kiev needs to recognize his own provocation for the return of their ships. Committed by Ukraine in 2018, he was then considered a crime. The Senator also called the detained ships of exhibits for trial. However, he did not rule out that the Russian side may return the ships, even if Kiev does not recognize publicly his guilt.
Earlier on November 17 in the border Department of the FSB in the Crimea said that we started transfer of the three ships of Ukraine is carried out on the basis of Russian-Ukrainian agreements and will end on November 18. The ships currently are towed from Kerch in neutral water for subsequent transmission.
As reported by “Kommersant” sources in the Russian government, Moscow has decided to return to Kiev ships before the summit in “Norman format”, which will take place on 9 December. The Russian foreign Ministry then said that the transfer of ships is not associated with the upcoming event, and recalled that the proposal to return the equipment to the Ukrainian side have not lost their relevance.
