The automobile bridge across the Lena river, project for the construction of which was approved by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, was the dream of local residents. The mayor of Yakutsk Sardana avksent’eva wrote in his Instagram on Monday, November 18.
“It’s the age-old dream of our people and nearly forty years of expectations and disappointments of the current generation of Yakutsk”, — she noted.
According to the mayor, the bridge will stabilize life in the biggest city built on permafrost.
Earlier on November 18, it was reported that Vladimir Putin has approved the construction of a road bridge across the Lena river near Yakutsk. According to preliminary calculations, the construction cost of the bridge will be 82,9 billion.
In December last year, during the annual press conference the head of state admitted the possibility of a new megaproject. He instructed the Ministry of transport and Ministry of economic development to determine the economic feasibility of the bridge.
The inhabitants of Yakutsk are no year-round land communication with Federal highways. In summer, every hour there is a ferry in the winter, the cars go straight across the ice.
