After Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union sanctions against Russian business can be strengthened. This was stated by Director of the Second European Department of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Belyaev, reports RIA Novosti.
“There is a possibility that there will be some tightening of sanctions, it is better to be prepared. (…) In the house of Commons openly discussed the possibility of introducing in the future, additional national sanctions against Russian companies,” — said the diplomat. He added that such rhetoric from Moscow is causing confusion.
28 October, Brussels agreed to postpone the UK out of the EU until 31 January 2020. This decision was supported by all 27 countries of the Association. Before that, the British Parliament refused to consider urgently the schedule of the release, and before the deputies voted, to request the EU new delay.
In June, the European Union extended by six months economic sanctions against Russia due to events in Ukraine. EU members unanimously agreed that Russia is not sufficiently fulfilling the Minsk agreements. In Moscow emphasize that Russia is not a party to these agreements, and country of guarantor, as France and Germany.
