Vadim Plasticotto: press service of the presidential administration of Ukraine
An alternative to the Minsk agreement can become a peacekeeping operation, not provided for in the Minsk negotiation process. This was stated by Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadim pristayko in an interview to “RBC-Ukraine”.
According to him, the Kyiv authorities have “folder option number two”, in case the implementation of the Minsk agreements will not lead to the settlement of the conflict in the Donbass. Pristayko noted that in this case Ukraine needs to have a different course of action.
“I have said many times that this can be a peacekeeping operation. And even when the leaders are discussing it, raises a fair question: so we come out of the Minsk agreements? That is, I didn’t say anything “anti-Ming”, on the contrary, leaders have long been discussing the possibility of changes,” — said the Ukrainian diplomat.
At the same time, he noted that if Russia blocks action in the UN security Council and the mission does not appear, then the Ukrainian government will present a third option. “And we have there are several options that have already outlined to the President in General,” said Pristayko.
Earlier pristayko said that if the meeting in “Norman format” does not give a result, Kiev will consider options up to withdrawal from the Minsk agreements. One scenario provides for the recognition by Ukraine of the fact of occupation of the territory, however, does not negate the realization of its European aspirations, said the Ukrainian politician.
The Minsk agreement, signed by representatives of Kiev and the breakaway republics of Donbass, provide immediate ceasefire, the withdrawal of heavy weapons from the line of contact, the constitutional reform in Ukraine by giving the region a special status, as well as the holding of local elections.
