Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan personally told the President of the United States Donald Trump that he will not refuse from the Russian s-400 and will look for other options in case of failure to deliver the F-35. On Tuesday, November 19, reports Reuters.
Addressing supporters of the Party of justice and development, the Turkish leader told them about his conversation with his American counterpart. According to him, if the United States will maintain its uncompromising position on the question of the supply of F-35, then Turkey will have to look for alternatives to meet their needs in the defense.
Earlier it became known that the American company Lockheed Martin and Pratt & Whitney have achieved “impressive progress” in finding alternative suppliers made in Turkey components of the F-35.
13 November it was reported that trump has offered Turkey a bargain at $ 100 billion and issue resolution with sanctions over the purchase of Russian anti-aircraft missile systems. In return, Ankara should review its policy in Syria and to resolve the issue of C-400 in favor of the United States.
Deliveries of Russian s-400 “Triumph” in Turkey began in July of this year. The value of the contract amounted to $ 2.5 billion. The US and other NATO countries fear that the s-400 can track the American fifth generation fighter F-35, which should have been to the Turkish side. Washington has suspended the supply of about 100 fighters in Ankara, and has threatened Turkey with sanctions for the purchase of Russian weapons.
