The European Commission recommended Ukraine to buy gas from Russia directly, in the amount of about 15 billion cubic meters per year. About it reports TASS.
A source close to the trilateral gas talks, said that direct purchases will allow Kiev to avoid costly reverse supply chain.
In addition, according to the interlocutor of the Agency, it will increase the interest of Russia to use the Ukrainian gas transportation system (GTS) for the supply of fuel to the European market. It will also reduce the tension on the issue of transit tariffs.
On 14 November the President of Russia Vladimir Putin said that Moscow is ready to reduce the price of gas for Ukraine by 25 percent, however, this is possible with drop shipping.
Ukraine has stopped direct natural gas purchases in Russia in 2015. Since that time, the Republic manages its own production and deliveries from Europe through the reverse. While Kiev has not confirmed that it will resume deliveries under direct contracts, but did not rule out such a possibility in the absence of the political component of the contracts.
