The losses of Poland due to the high cost of Russian gas at 250 million dollars a year. This was stated by the head of the Polish oil and gas company PGNiG Piotr, Wozniak, reports RIA Novosti.
According to him, Warsaw wants a lower price for gas in the next three years when the contract with “Gazprom” will still work. The agreement, signed in 1996, expires in 2022-m.
Poland managed to reduce the cost of gas by 10 percent in 2012. In 2015 PGNiG wanted a new discount, and filed a lawsuit in the Stockholm arbitration. The court issued a preliminary decision on the claim, and both sides declared victory. Gazprom argues that claims of Poland left without answer, and in Warsaw I saw in the verdict of right to claim a reduction of cost of supply. In October 2018, the Russian company appealed against the interim decision.
Earlier, Poland announced that it did not intend to renew the contract with “Gazprom” after 2022. Republic is going to switch completely to ensure liquefied natural gas (LNG) and also gas supply from Norway via the construction of the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline.
PGNiG also plans to supply gas to Ukraine of up to six billion cubic meters of gas, although experts indicate that Poland I have to go to Russia. The Warsaw and Kiev have agreed on the supply of us LNG to Ukraine until the end of this year, without specifying volumes.
