In the existing regional conditions, Ukraine cannot physically be closed to Russian goods wall. This was stated by Deputy Minister of economic development, trade and agriculture of Ukraine Taras Kachka in an interview to “RBC-Ukraine”.
According to him, if the security situation worsens, the Kiev authorities have strengthened the trade embargo “until a certain level.” “I think that to the maximum level a trade embargo with Russia, we have already reached. It is a fact with which I could trade will still exist,” said Kachka.
Ukrainian politician said that neither Russia nor the countries participating in the Eurasian economic Union can’t do without Ukrainian products. Kachka added that demand remains the scarce commodity in respect of which the earlier was lifted.
“It happened, for example, with wheelsets for wagons. Russia tried to limit this position through anti-dumping duty. But Belarus and Kazakhstan said it, maybe “good” is to limit the Ukrainians, but we need the cars went”, — said the politician.
He said that when it comes to national security, to talk about a complete embargo possible. But he stressed that both Ukrainian and Russian society can not “bring irresistible shopping wall” because the trade will still go through third countries.
In August, the Federal customs service has published statistics showing the decrease of foreign trade turnover between Russia and Ukraine in the first half of 2019 at 2.13 percent. The reduction was due to reduction of Ukrainian exports by 10.7 percent, to 2,421 billion dollars. Russia, by contrast, boosted its shipments to Ukraine by 2.64 percent, to 4,526 billion dollars.
