The majority of Russians (85 percent) opposed the initiatives to reduce allowable threshold the speed limit from 20 to 10 kilometers per hour. It was supported by 10 percent. It follows from the results of the research project Car Mail.ru consulted by RIA Novosti.
For the complete abolition of free exceedances were 5 percent of Russians. 60 percent of respondents believe that lowering the threshold will allow to increase the collection of fines. Another 47 percent said it will have to spend more time on the road.
According to 24% of the changes will negatively affect the loyalty of citizens to the rules of the road as drivers will be more likely to break in spite of the inspectors. 12 percent believe that reducing the threshold will reduce the number of accidents. 11 suggested that will improve the discipline of drivers.
The study was conducted from November 14 to 18, among the 16 984 Russian users Auto Mail.ru.
Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of interior supported the idea of lowering the allowable speed threshold. Probably, the changes will appear in the new edition of the administrative code which can be submitted to the state Duma in the beginning of 2020. The coordinator of the movement “Blue buckets” Peter Shkumatov declared that such a measure would “harass” drivers, as they’ll have to go in the “gas-brake”.
