Land forces of Armed Forces of the Russian Federation has completed the re-operational-tactical missile complex “Iskander”. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of defense.
Friday, November 22, at the Kapustin Yar personnel missile compound of the Western military district will be solemnly presented to the brigade set of operational-tactical missile complex (PTRC) “Iskander”. After this, all existing missile join the Land forces will be equipped with these systems.
The set consists of several tens of launchers, transport-loading and command-staff machines and auxiliary equipment. Soon the rocketeers will hold tactical exercises with combat start, and then will move to permanent location.
September 25 the President of Russia Vladimir Putin proposed several dozen countries, including NATO members, to prohibit in Europe and other regions, the deployment of intermediate-range nuclear forces (INF). Also the message mentioned Russia’s intention not to deploy the missiles, until they do the American side. The Alliance rejected the proposal.
“Iskander” is a family of tactical missile systems designed to destroy small and area targets, primarily air and missile defense, command posts and infrastructure facilities. “Iskander-M” — version with quasi-ballistic missiles, manufactured with the use of reducing the visibility of stealth technology.
In February it was reported that the complex “Iskander-M” will receive the updated rocket.
