Honorary President of the Russian football Union (RFU) Vyacheslav Koloskov has declared that the deprivation of the Russian national team flag and anthem at the championship of Europe 2020 is theoretically possible. So the functionary responded to the question about the Committee’s recommendations for compliance with the world anti-doping Agency (WADA), reports TASS.
According to Koloskova, to disqualify the team from participation in the Euro just will not work. However, he noted that Russia has rather strong positions in the International Federation of football associations (FIFA) and the Union of European football associations (UEFA).
“The chances that Russia will lose the right to host matches of the championship of Europe 2020 zero as well,” said spikes. From FIFA and UEFA, he said, have their own health committees, its doping service and its accredited laboratory. At the disposal of the organizations has a database of Russian players.
Previously, on 25 November it became known that the Committee on correspondence recommended that the WADA Executive Committee to suspend Russia from participation in international competitions for four years. The final decision on this issue will be made on 9 December. If the recommendation is adopted, the Russian athletes will be able to compete at the Olympic games in 2020 only under a neutral flag. In the report of the Committee also discussed football tournaments.
On 19 November the British tabloid Daily Mail reported that Russia may ban the holding of home matches of the championship of Europe on football in 2020 due to the mismatch between the database of the Moscow anti-doping laboratory. That the data have been tampered with, it became known in September.
The European championship will be held in the summer of 2020 in 12 cities of Europe. The Russian team has already qualified for the tournament. Three group matches and one quarterfinal meeting will be held in St. Petersburg.
