Kazakhstan is studying the possibility of joining a gas pipeline project from Russia to China “Power of Siberia”. Writes about this TASS with reference to the first Deputy Minister of energy of the Republic of Makhambet Dosmukhambetov.
Joining the pipeline, Kazakhstan intends to gasify the objects of the East Kazakhstan region. Own gas field in this region is small and doesn’t cover the needs of the entire region.
Dosmukhambetov noted that there are two scenarios of accession of Kazakhstan to the project: the first will be possible if Russia is going to build “Power of Siberia-2” through the territory of the Republic, the second connection to the transmission system in the area of Barnaul. The official noted that the project is only under consideration and negotiation.
The construction of the gas pipeline “Power of Siberia” began in 2014. To date the project is completed, the ceremonial launch is scheduled for December 2, 2019.
In 2015, the Russian and Chinese sides signed an agreement on gas supplies via the “Western route” from fields in Western Siberia gas pipeline “Power of Siberia-2”.
