Ukraine adopts a law on “Crimean autonomy”

She noted that the Parliament will quickly pass a law on indigenous peoples of the Crimea. Then the MPs will consider bills on the status of the Crimean Tatar people and their autonomy on the Peninsula. According to her, this was followed by the adoption of constitutional amendments. “But to accept these laws without preparation and communication with the society is wrong,” said taseva.

The politician said that the draft law of autonomy provides that the Mejlis and Kurultai will be recognized by the official authorities. Also the Kiev authorities want to allocate a quota of Crimean Tatars in all bodies of local authorities and local councils of the Peninsula.

“At the same time, it should be clearly noted that any issues associated with the territorial integrity of Ukraine, in this context does not occur, they can be solved only on the national level,” summed up taseva.

13 November it was reported that the Ukrainian authorities are going to broadly discuss the issue of establishing autonomy of the Crimean Tatar people as a part of the country. Permanent representative of the President of Ukraine in the Crimea Anton Korynevych said that in the Crimea, many of those who are “waiting for Ukraine”. “It is important to say that in the Crimea there is General support for the idea of the so-called “Russian world”,” he Korenevich.

Crimea became part of Russia following a referendum held in March 2014. Ukraine, USA, EU members and other countries do not recognize its results and consider the presence of the Peninsula as part of Russia’s occupation. Moscow insists that the process of the annexation of Crimea meets standards of international law.
