USA ready for serious talks on de-escalation with Iran and not put any preconditions. This is stated in the letter from the US Ambassador to the UN, Kelly Kraft, the UN Security Council, reports Reuters.
As stated in the document, the purpose of peace negotiations “to prevent further threats to international peace and security and to prevent the escalation of the Iranian regime.”
There’s also Kraft explains why the Americans eliminated the General of the Islamic revolutionary guard Corps (IRGC) Qassem Soleimani. According to her, it was self-defence — response to a series of attacks by Iran and its allies. “The United States is prepared to take the necessary steps in the region to protect the staff and their interests”, — underlined in the letter.
Earlier it was reported that the President of the United States Donald trump in his address to the nation announced a new, “strong” sanctions against Iran, but ruled out the possibility of a military response to yesterday’s rocket fire.
On the night of 8 January, the Iranian revolutionary guards launched a missile attack on military targets in Iraq. The attack was a response to the deaths in Baghdad the commander of the special forces “al-Quds” major General Qassem Soleimani as a result of American air strikes. The operation was called “Martyr Soleimani”. The objects were fired about two dozen rockets of a class “earth — earth”. Iran reported the death of 80 Americans. In the United States, in turn, indicated that there were no casualties.
