The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that the clarification of the causes of the crash of a Ukrainian plane in Iran is a priority for the country. About it reports “Interfax”.
“We will know the truth. To do this, we carried out a detailed and independent investigation in accordance with the norms of international law,” he said.
Zelenski also said that on Thursday he intends to speak by phone with the President of Iran to strengthen cooperation of the departments of the Republic with the Ukrainian expert group to investigate the accident. In addition, the President announced an unscheduled inspection in the air fleet of the country.
Earlier it became known that Ukraine has sent to Iran a group of experts and representatives of relevant departments. The group included representatives of the state aviation service, security Service, defense Ministry, foreign Ministry, police and the national security Council, as well as the staff of the Bureau of investigation of accidents and workers of the company “Ukraine International airlines”, whose plane crashed.
The plane crash “Ukraine International airlines” happened on the morning after the night of 8 January, Tehran launched a missile attack on military targets in Iraq. Iran announced it is a response to the killing of the commander of the special forces “al-Quds” major General Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad on 3 January, which killed an American missile strike.
Ukrainian passenger plane fell shortly after takeoff from Tehran airport, all on Board were 167 passengers and nine crew members died. Most of them were not Ukrainian citizens.
