German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow showed friendliness. This opinion was expressed by the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag.
“After three and a half hours of talks, the Chancellor found markedly friendly words for the Russian President,” writes the author of the publication. He noted that when it was about US, “become cooler”. So, according to the newspaper, Washington was only for Merkel ally, a partnership of the question.
The article notes that while the two leaders talked without an interpreter, and pushed past differences into the background. The author also noticed that Merkel once again supported the construction of the pipeline “Nord stream-2” despite the U.S. position, and stated that he does not accept the extraterritorial sanctions of the American side.
The meeting between Putin and Merkel took place in the Kremlin on Saturday, January 11. During the talks, the two leaders particularly discussed Iran’s nuclear program, the implementation of the Minsk agreements, the situation in Libya.
