Washington intends to develop constructive and productive relations with Moscow, said US Secretary of state Michael Pompeo in his Twitter account.
Politician commented on the swearing in of the new Ambassador in Russia John Sullivan. “John, without a doubt, a suitable candidate to join the U.S. Embassy in Moscow in this important work at a time when we strive for constructive and productive relations with Russia,” wrote Pompeo.
In November, Sullivan said that the improved relations between Washington and Moscow is possible with the implementation of the Minsk agreements by Russia. He called another condition for improving relations: “the rejection of efforts to undermine democratic processes” in the United States from Russia.
The U.S. Senate approved the candidacy of the new Ambassador to Russia in December. Prior to that, Sullivan served as Deputy Secretary of state. In addition, he has worked in the Pentagon, the justice Ministry and the Ministry of Commerce.
