Bulgaria is actively working on the construction of the gas distribution network after criticism from Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was stated by the head of “Gazprom” Alexey Miller on air of the program “Moscow. The Kremlin. Putin” on TV channel “Russia 1”.
Energy Minister Alexander Novak, in turn, expressed confidence that Bulgaria will fulfill its obligations. He noted that the works are large-scale and in full swing.
Putin in early December, 2019 stated that Bulgaria is deliberately delaying the implementation of the project of gas pipeline “Turkish stream” on its territory. “If the Bulgarian authorities do not want, we will find other opportunities of realization in the South of Europe”, — said the head of state.
In response, the Bulgarian side stated that building “Balkan thread”, which will become part of the “Turkish stream” as fast as possible. According to Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, the gas pipeline is under construction with an average speed of five kilometers per day. The delay in the start of the process, he explained the mandatory procedures.
The gas pipeline “Turkish stream” will run under the Black sea to Turkey and then to Greece. The first branch is designed to supply gas to the Turkish market, the second — for the supply of gas to southern and South-Eastern Europe. The launch of the “Turkish stream” was held on January 8, 2020.
