In seven regions of Russia, the situation with garbage polygons can be critical. Measures to combat waste, which are taken in the framework of the national project “Ecology”, is insufficient, says the report of the accounting chamber on the results of the national project.
Regions with a difficult situation with the garbage, the Agency believes Kamchatka, Primorsky and Altai Krai, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Mordovia, of the Leningrad and Moscow region. In these regions the residual capacity of landfills will be exhausted in the near future.
As recalled by the chamber, the Russian authorities within the framework of the national project “Ecology” has set a target to ensure that by the end of 2024, 60 percent of all solid waste was undergoing treatment, while 36 percent went to disposal.
However, the project does not include the needed for this event. In particular, it does not encourage separate collection of waste that impede the functioning of the refineries. In addition, activities do not form a comprehensive system of municipal solid waste management (MSW), do not create conditions for the establishment of waste recycling and not popularitybut among the Russians the use of reusable products and containers instead of disposable ones.
Because of this, in seven troubled regions of the debris will continue to accumulate, even if the authorities by 2024, will increase the share of incoming wastes to 36 percent. In addition, in the ten regions because of the lack of space for disposal of wastes legally allowed until 2023 to put in a garbage at unlicensed landfills.
