The President of Abkhazia Raul Khajimba, the day before resigned in this position, addressed to the inhabitants of the country. About it reports “Interfax”.
Khadzhimba thanked all who supported him, but noted that the country has many unsolved problems remain. In his opinion, the situation in the last days deteriorated due to disputes over public policy issues, about which he has openly expressed its position.
“Was and remain a supporter of elections and other political processes have occurred in accordance with the Constitution and the laws of our country. Another way is detrimental to the young Abkhazian state”, — said Khajimba.
Raul Khajimba resigned of the head of state on January 12 and sent to the Parliament a statement. Likely candidate for the post of the acting President of the Republic after his retirement was named Prime Minister Valery Bganba.
9 January, a delegation of the opposition deputies of the Parliament of Abkhazia passed to the President of the Republic of their demands, the most important being the holding of new presidential elections. At the same time, the protesters blocked the building of the presidential administration and the Parliament of the Republic in Sukhumi. Then Khajimba refused to resign and threatened to impose a state of emergency in the country if the situation with the protests is not normal.
