Sales of new passenger cars in Russia in 2019 fell 2.3 percent compared to 2018, according to data of Association of European businesses (AEB), which leads owned by Grigory Berezkin the RBC.
For the year sales of new cars made up 1.76 million units. The fall occurred for the first time from 2016, when it amounted to 11 percent.
According to the forecast of AEB, sales of cars and light commercial vehicles will decline and in 2020 — 2.1%, to 1.72 million units. The Association considers this year to be the continuation of the “difficult period, when market participants reached the ceiling of opportunities in stimulating demand”.
Also the reasons for the decline in sales should be to reduce the level of income and recently increased recycling, According to members of the AEB, in 2020 is not expected any improvement in the external environment. However, they believe that the Russian market shows a results below their potential.
The authors believe that for better results the government should assist the manufacturers and sellers of cars support.
