Ukraine banned the import of about one million books from Russia

The state Committee for television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine (state Committee) in 2019 banned the import from Russia 151 publications with a total circulation of nearly one million copies. About it reports a press-Department service.

The Committee noted that the prohibitions related to the “anti-Ukrainian content” books. Relevant documents about the refusal to import was made out on the basis of “negative opinions of the expert Council of the state Committee in connection with the compliance with the criteria for the assessment of printing products allowed for distribution in the territory of Ukraine”.

In addition, the Agency has refused to issue an import permit 2171 publication due to insufficiency of the documents submitted. At the same time the Ukrainian authorities for 2019 was issued more than 4.5 thousand of permits for import of printing products from Russia and the uncontrolled Kiev territory of Ukraine.

At the end of 2016, the then President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a law limiting the importation of “foreign products of anti-Ukrainian content.” 2017 for import to Ukraine of printed materials must obtain permission of the state Committee.
