The resignation of the government, Dmitry Medvedev, does not mean that it failed the assigned task. This was stated by acting Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Mutko, responding to questions from journalists at the Gaidar forum, reports TASS.
“On the contrary, the President [Vladimir Putin] publicly today and meeting with us said that he was grateful,” said the official.
Previously Mutko said that the resignation of the government associated with the change request, the message to the Federal Assembly said President Putin.
15 January Medvedev announced the resignation of the government. According to him, the decision was made on the background announced by the President in address to the Federal Assembly of the planned amendments to the Constitution.
Putin thanked Medvedev for his work and said that he intends to appoint him to the post of Deputy Chairman of the Russian security Council, effectively his Deputy, as the head of the security Council is the President himself. The President also asked the Prime Minister to fulfil the duties before formation of new Cabinet of Ministers. The candidacy of the new head of government was not formally called.
