The head of the Libyan national army (LNA) Khalifa Haftar has vowed to respect the cease-fire in Libya. This was stated by the head of the German foreign Minister Heiko Maas, reports TASS.
It is reported that the Maas was found with the Haftarot in Benghazi. “He promised to comply with the [peace agreement], although ( … ), in Moscow, he didn’t sign it,” — said the Minister. We are talking about the offer indefinitely a cease-fire between the LDF and the national consensus government (NTC), headed by the Prime Minister Faiz Sarraj.
On 8 January the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged the Libyan conflict to a truce and offered to sit at the negotiating table. Libyan field Marshal Khalifa Haftar first refused the offer of the Russian and Turkish leaders decided to continue the offensive on Tripoli. But then the LDF announced the ceasefire in the Western region of Libya from midnight on January 12.
