Director Nikita Mikhalkov responded to the proposal of the leader of LDPR Vladimir Zhirinovsky to change the Russian national anthem. His words RIA Novosti reported.

“Zhirinovsky need to be changed, not the anthem,” stated Mikhalkov.

Earlier, Zhirinovsky complained that the Russian national anthem is too long and suggested shortening it. In his opinion, that it is difficult to perform for older people, women and children.

The words of the hymn of Russia was written by Sergey Mikhalkov music by Alexander Alexandrov, which was borrowed from the Soviet anthem. The current revision was adopted in 2000.
