Large-scale Russian project on creation of high-speed railway (HSR) from Saint-Petersburg to Nizhny Novgorod needs to be completed by 2026. This period marked the head of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov, the correspondent “Tapes.ru”.
“I think that in 2026 we’ll go to our rolling stock from St. Petersburg to Moscow and further — to Nizhny Novgorod”, — he answered a question of the moderator of the panel discussion “national technology policy and regional specificity” in the framework of the Gaidar forum at the Ranepa.
Was moderating the event, former Deputy Prime Minister and current head of RUSNANO Anatoly Chubais asked whether Belozerov the head of Russian Railways, in which Russia will launch a VSM.
According to Belozerova, the speed of trains along the new route will amount to 350-380 kilometers per hour, but the infrastructure will have a capacity of 400 kilometers per hour. Previously, the cost of building high-speed rail between St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod was estimated at 2.3 trillion rubles, but at the end of December it was proposed to calculate an estimate.
Forum is held in Ranepa on January 15-16. It is organized by the Ranepa, the Gaidar Institute and the Association of innovative regions of Russia. “Ribbon.ru” is an informational partner of the forum.
The mega-project — a major investment project. It involves considerable expenses from the budget with the possible participation of private investors and should also significantly affect the development of the country.
