The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky has signed the decree about reduction of military age. The corresponding decree published on the official website of the President.
According to the text of the decree, to call in the Armed forces of Ukraine will start from 18 years of age, not at age 20 years, as it was previously.
The upper limit of military age remained unchanged, is 27 years old. The new rules call will come into force in 2020.
The former lower limit of military age of 20 years was set in 2015 to the presidency of Petro Poroshenko. Call from 18 years old has not been canceled, saving it on a voluntary basis.
Earlier, the Head of the security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Ivan Bakanov said of the veterans of the antiterrorist operation in Donbass (ATO) can make a personnel reserve of the country. According to Bakanova, veterans can become productive members of society and “personnel reserve for changes in the country” because they have their vision of what is happening in Ukraine. He said that now the authorities are developing bills that would integrate veterans in the territorial defense forces.
