The Commission of the Public chamber of Russia (OP RF) on development of information community, media and mass communications, presented two of the Cathedral website for information about the fake news and examples of abuse of state symbols on the Internet. This was reported by RAPSI.

According to the Chairman of Commission OP of the Russian Federation, President of Fund of protection of national values Alexander Malkevich, the first site — “no Access” — aimed at countering insult of the Russian state symbols on the world wide web, and the second — the “no Fakes” — a similar platform to deal with unreliable information that can cause serious social turmoil.

A complaint of a violation of the law can apply to ordinary citizens. It is necessary to specify surname, name, phone number and a link to the website where the fake information is discovered or an insult to a national symbol. It is recommended to indicate why this information is contrary to Russian law. Processed materials are sent to the Prosecutor General of Russia for action.

Malkevich said that these sites will help relieve the law enforcement officers “from trash”, as some users complain of information, which in fact does not violate the laws.

In Russia currently has a law on fake news. It is prohibited to disseminate information which is recognized invalid. The document States that it is the news that through the distortion of facts is a threat to society. The execution of the law following the attorney General’s office.

In October of 2019, it was reported that the majority of Russian sites agreed to remove the information about the insult of the state symbols of Russia. With the commencement of the act in Roskomnadzor from the Prosecutor General’s office received 45 complaints with the requirement to block 85 Internet pages. Most of them related to the abuse of the flag and the coat of arms (70 percent of the total).
