Scientists from the European southern Observatory revealed the secret of the appearance on Earth of phosphorus element, played a key role in the origin of life. Experts believe that he came to the planet in the composition of the molecules of monoxide phosphorus, within comets. This publication reports Science Alert.
The researchers studied zvezdoobrazovaniya region AFGL 5142 with the radio telescope ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter Array). Spectrum analysis of the radio emission allowed us to determine which molecules are present in the region. It turned out that around the new stars are the molecules of monoxide phosphorus. They are formed inside holes in the clouds of interstellar dust, which is exposed to the gas streams.
Monoxide phosphorus was also found in the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, orbiting the Jupiter. It explains how phosphorus could fall on the Ground. After the “wall” of holes in the clouds finally dissolved, the molecules fall into dust particles, which are then combined into a comet.
Phosphorus is necessary for the formation of DNA molecules and proteins. He is also involved in the formation of cell walls and accumulation of the energy cells.
