The Ukrainian Prime Minister explained his resignation

Prime Minister of Ukraine Alexey Goncharuk explained why he decided to resign. The video of his speech in the Verkhovna Rada, published on the website of the Prime Minister in Facebook.

According to the head of the government, he did it in order to deserve and to confirm the credibility of President Vladimir Zelensky.

“This is due to the fact that we are one team. We all came into power in the Parliament to change the country thanks to this man. Thanks Vladimir Alexandrovich Zelensky. We all respect him, and for us it is important to have confidence in the team 100 percent,” he said.

Also Goncharuk explained why he submitted the resignation to the President, not to Parliament, as required by the Constitution of the country. The Prime Minister said that he deliberately handed it to the President, giving him the right to pass it in Parliament. Goncharuk believes that Zelensky has to decide “who and at what position in the team can work”.

The head of Ukrainian government resigned on 17 January after the scandal with the wiretap of a meeting of the Cabinet. Published in network, the audio man, it sounds like Goncharuk, criticizes knowledge Zelensky in the economy, and calls himself a layman.

The President has received a petition Goncharuk resignation at the weekend and will hold consultations, including foreign, on the nomination of the new head of government. The resignation is already supported in the presidential party “servant of the people”. However, the final decision about dismissal of the Prime Minister can only accept the Verkhovna Rada.
