European telecommunications satellite Eutelsat 5 West B, launched in October 2019 Russian rocket “proton-M” from Baikonur cosmodrome (Kazakhstan), lost half of its capacity, according to RIA Novosti.
The reason for this is the failure of one of two solar panels of the SPACECRAFT (SC). According to the Agency, this information was confirmed by the European global satellite operator Eutelsat.
In September TASS, citing two sources, reported that the postponement of the launch rocket “proton-M” caused by “electromagnetic interference” in the control system upper stage “breeze-M”, provoked by the improper connection of the American SPACECRAFT Mission Extension Vehicle — 1 (MEV-1), which was launched with Eutelsat 5 West B.
Satellite Eutelsat 5 West B manufactured by the European Airbus for Eutelsat. Placed in a geostationary orbit KA had to work not менее15 years, providing communication services of France, Italy and Algeria.
