Prime Minister Boris Johnson tried to talk and make peace with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This became known from the words of a senior official from Moscow, reports TASS.
“Contact with the Russian side, he was looking for the Johnson (…), some of the vitriolic statements and the speech was not” — said the source. According to him, the main message of the British Prime Minister trying to improve relations with Russia.
The leaders spoke January 19 at the conference on Libya in Berlin. It is noted that Putin and Johnson met for the first time since the election last leader of the ruling Conservative party and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in July 2019.
In December, Johnson spoke about the terrible problems in relations between London and Moscow. “We want the best commercial relationships, we want more trade links, but it’s always so disappointing”, — said the Prime Minister.
Relations between Britain and Russia deteriorated after the attempted poisoning of former GRU Colonel Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia in March 2018. According to British authorities, it was sanctioned by the highest leadership of Russia, and in the operation took part the employees of the GRU. Moscow denies involvement in the assassination.
