Former representative of the OSCE in the Tripartite contact group in Minsk, Martin Sajdik considers Russia one of the parties to the armed conflict in the Donbass. He told about it in interview to the newspaper “Kommersant”.
Sidik explained that he believes that because on the original document of the Minsk agreement signed by representatives of Ukraine and Russia are higher than the signatures of representatives of the breakaway republics of Donbass. He added that in Russia “it do not want to hear.”
Sidik also said that he refused to consider Russia as a mediator, because it is biased and tries to be on the side of the republics of Donbass, while the intermediary “should speak openly and to act on the same side”.
Part of Donbass is out of control in Kiev as a result of armed conflict. In April 2014, the Ukrainian government began a military operation against the Donetsk and Lugansk national republics, which declared independence from Kiev after the change of the Central government. Ukraine has repeatedly accused Russia of involvement in the fighting. Moscow denies all the accusations, pointing out their unfounded.
