Russian and Kazakhstani Director Sergei Dvortsevoy told about debts and lack of money for food because of the fine from the Ministry of culture of Russia. This publication reports Meduza.
According to the filmmaker, the penalty of the Ministry of culture of 7.5 million rubles is associated with the violation of the terms of the production of “Aiki” — pictures about Kyrgyz emigrant in Moscow, received the prize at the Cannes film festival and included in shorts-sheet “Oscar”. Dvortsevoy said that the shooting began in 2012. They were expected to be completed within two years, but in the end it took me six years. One of the reasons for the delay was the fact that in Moscow for a long time there was no snow, who in the story had to be present in the frame. In addition, in the course of shooting dead a German producer of films and some actors-migrants suddenly abandoned the project.
The Director admitted that he did not expect that it will require the same amount because of violation of terms. “The agreement was that for every day of delay put some amount. In relation to the Ministry of culture I was acting completely openly. I said, look, I have the delay because, and therefore, for objective reasons, the picture is delayed. Not because I disappeared with the money in my teeth,” said Dvortsevoy.
“I sit now in debt after pictures. All say: “the Picture is very successful, you’re doing awesome.” I say: “Sorry, I sometimes lack money for food is elementary”,” added the filmmaker. According to him, the Ministry of culture did not consider the success of “Aiki” at film festivals.
