Almost half of Russia’s population — 47 percent — will be retired by 2060. It is reported by family-owned Demyan Kudryavtsev, the newspaper “Vedomosti” with reference to the report of the economists of Credit Suisse.

It is specified that in 2020, people over 65 will account for a quarter of the population. The man in 2020 will on average live another 13.3 years after retirement, in 2060 this figure was 17.4 years.

Experts have told that the life expectancy of people around the world rose from 47 years in 1950 to 72 years in 2019. in addition, the biological age now is not the same as chronological: for example, 65-year-old resident of Switzerland feels the same way as 51-year-old in 1950.

The report also proposed several options for how to make the pension system more stable. In their opinion, it is necessary to encourage more people to save for retirement, to raise additional funds for the payment of pensions due to the tax, or gradually to reduce payments. However, the most effective method economists said that the increase in the retirement age.

1 January 2019 in Russia began pension reform. The age of retirement in 2024 will be increased gradually to 60 years for women and 65 years for men. Pretensioners are considered men at the age from 60 to 65 years and women from 55 to 60 years.
